A few pictures taken around Sharm el Sheikh
( I am not a professional photographer, just a few snaps I got my hands on or took myself.)

A picture from the archives. This is what Nama Bay used to look like about 20 years ago.
This aerial picture shows the southern part of Nama Bay to Ras um Sidd in the top left. Top right of the picture is the ports of Sharm el Moya and Sharm el Mina.
The only buildings to be seen are huts and the Marina Sharm Hotel, and you can just make out the MFO base.
Another one from the archives. This is the Marina Sharm hotel in 1979. Note the divers in the foreground having to push the trailer up to the car.

Archives again.

Sharks Bay in 1979, before anything was built there.

   A view of the beach promenade of Nama Bay. Taken by the Movenpick hotel in 2002

This is a picture of the side path from the beach in Nama Bay

On 31st Oct 02 it rained heavily for the first time since 96.

   The Cateract hotel on the beach front of Nama moved its swimming pool into the reception and main courtyard.

Packed with people at 10pm.

The pedestrian area in Nama Bay. Taken from the car park looking towards the Movenpick hotel. This street is lined with little outdoor coffee shops and She-Sha places. As well as a few bars and clubs like Camel Bar, Bus Stop, McDonalds.

Taken in 2002

A local landmark in Sharm called "Ras Kennedy" it used to be seen by everybody going into Sharm town until the area was filled in with palm trees.

As the name suggests it is a natural rock formation that resembles the American president JF Kennedy head.

Archives again;

Left: A very popular "hotel" in the 80's. This was Gafy Camp, which is now Days Inn Hotel.

The 'hotel' only had fresh water for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. Any other time of the day it was sea water in the pipes.
