This is what Nama Bay used to look like about 20 years ago. This aerial picture shows the southern part of Nama Bay to Ras um Sidd in the top left. Top right of the picture is the ports of Sharm el Moya and Sharm el Mina. The only buildings to be seen are huts and the Marina Sharm Hotel, and you can just make out the MFO base. |

A local landmark in Sharm called "Ras Kennedy" it used to be seen by everybody going into Sharm town until the area was filled in with palm trees. As the name suggests it is a natural rock formation
that resembles the American president JF Kennedy head.

Archives again; Left: A very popular "hotel" in the 80's. This was Gafy Camp, which is now Days Inn Hotel. The 'hotel' only had fresh water for an hour in the morning
and an hour in the evening. Any other time of the day it was sea water
in the pipes. |
