If you fancy a night out of Naama Bay then head to the relatively quiet area of Hadaba. Primarily the locals residential area, Hadaba has a laid back and non-touristy feel about it and makes for a refreshing change for an evening.Located on the main strip, just by the entrance of one of the few hotels in the area, Pick Albatross Aqua park, Champions bar offers not only a relaxing drinking hole, but also offers an extensive bar menu for either a quick snack or a full meal.As the name suggests, Champions is a sports bar, but not in an obtrusive way, its more a background thing, as the bar is frequented most evenings by dive staff relaxing after a long day! Having said that, most big sports games are available for viewing on one of the many screens, located both inside and out.Seating is available in both areas, with heaters in the winter and air con in the summer, so you will always be comfortable whatever time of year (or day!) you go.The whole bar offers table service, but actually getting the bar mans attention can prove to be a sport in itself as we discovered. The menu is as you would expect of a bar, with some really ‘staples’ along with some more adventurous options. Feeling hungry after a few Sakaras, we opted for some starters which arrived promptly and didn’t disappoint. The cheese balls were the perfect blend of cheese stodge and deep fried enough to give a good crispy outer. (as I said, don’t expect gourmet, just good pub grub!). The garlic bread portion was surprisingly large in comparison with a lot of other places, so was also quiet filling if you choose to eat the lot – as my friend did!

So after what was not the best choice of starters if you are planning to eat more, the main course came out. The tuna pizza was hot and tasty, with a good base that is something between deep pan and thin crust. A word to the wise though, if you like your pizza with the cheese golden, then ask the waiter for your pizza to have “a brown face”. This translates as “please make sure the cheese is crispy not just melted”. You can’t beat a good steak sandwich and this is just what turned up.. a big white bread roll with loads of steak pieces and melted cheese on top. It also comes with a healthy side portion of chips, but the option to choose how its cooked isn’t there - it arrives well done. As long as you can live with that, it’s a great choice to accompany a few beers and the football match.
