| The Water pipes are a traditional Middle Eastern way of smoking the tobacco (it's just tobacco, honest officer). The tobacco is rough and is mixed with other flavours, the apple one is popular (apple in arabic = 'To-fa' ). This is placed in a ceramic bowl on top of the pipe and then hot charcoal is placed on top to keep it alight. The smoke is sucked down into a water bowl at the bottom of the pipe to cool it down. This gives it the nick name of 'hubbly-bubbly', its correct name is 'She-Sha' |
| Most hotels have an area set aside for She-Sha's usually with a guy serving teas and coffee heated on the same fire as the charcoal for the pipe. |
| The beach front in the evening also has many areas doing the same thing, usually with a backgammon board or two being played. |
| The street one row back from the beach is also a popular area for sitting and watching people in the evening. The pavements are full of seats serving She-Sha, teas, coffee or beers. The area goes from by McDonalds to just past the Camel Bar. |
